Release: Monster Health Food Co. named as 'Health and Wellness' finalist in 2014 Food Magazine Awards

Sydney, July 7, 2014: Monster Health Food Co. (MHFCo.), an Australian-made and family-owned breakfast food company, has been announced as a finalist in the upcoming 2014 Food Magazine Awards, with their innovative “Breakfast in a Bag” range being recognised in the ‘Health and Wellness’ category.

Launched in late 2013, “Breakfast in a Bag” is a range of pre-packaged breakfast bags that come in 60-gram single servings. It has been designed for milk or yoghurt to be poured directly into the package, addressing a nation-wide need for breakfast offerings that are nutritious and portion-controlled off-the-shelf.

Aimed at people who are time-poor and are seeking a breakfast cereal that is convenient, tasty and healthy, “Breakfast in a Bag” is available in all of MHFCo.’s seven flavours: Sports, Berry, Tropical, Free & Lo, Free & Fruity, Multigrain Porridge, and Hi-Fibre. This includes gluten, dairy, soy, nut, preservative and wheat-free alternatives.

“This is wonderful recognition for our Breakfast in a Bag range, and reflects our passion to make healthy, nutritious muesli available to as many people as possible. We feel strongly that Australians should not need to compromise when wanting a quick, convenient breakfast if they are on the go,” says Trevor Lauman, co-owner of Monster Health Food Co.

“We are excited that the industry has responded so positively to this innovation, which has also been embraced by our loyal consumers.”

The news comes at an exciting time for Monster Health Food Co., who are also leading the way as the first company to introduce the voluntary Health Star Rating system to its packaging. It remains the only company to have such packaging on Australian supermarket shelves, and only last week introduced their Free & Fruity flavor as the latest to transition to this important new packaging.

The annual Food Magazine Awards celebrates its 10th year in 2014, and were established to recognise and reward best practice and innovation in food and beverage manufacturing in Australia and New Zealand. Almost 200 entries were submitted into this year’s awards.

The ‘Health and Wellbeing’ category is defined as ‘foods that benefit the health and wellbeing of consumers’. Products tailored to consumers with food allergies are also recognised within this category. Winners will be announced in Sydney on August 8.
